Ombre Cakes

I had seen these designs floating around the internet but hadn't gotten an opportunity to make any--until I had a girl!  This first cake was baby girl's first birthday cake.

Then I had an opportunity to repeat the design with a few other ombre looks for a teen's birthday party.  I made all three for the one party.  They were 6 inch, 8 inch, and 10 inch rounds.

 

I loved just doing beautiful designs (rather than characters), and am excited to get more chances to do them now that I have a baby girl!

Cars Cake

I made this for my son's 4th birthday.  Again, I wasn't crazy about many of the kid-ish designs I found online, so I made up my own.  This was significantly easier than many of those designs too!

Thomas Cake

I've seen a bunch of Thomas the Train cakes online and didn't really care for them (too kid-ish).  But then I found this design and knew it was a keeper!  I made this for my son's 2nd birthday, and then again 2 weeks later for a friend of his from church.
